All for the love of Stevie
Some of you might already know this, but I am a huge fan of Stevie Nicks. She is most definitely my favorite artist out there.
I am always so moved by her vocals and the style in which she writes her songs. Almost fairytale like, but very profound and very personal.
Stevie is also someone I admire for her personal success at overcoming drug addiction. (She struggled with both a 20-year cocaine addiction, as well as a debilitating addiction to the prescription drug, Klonopin)
I am in a 12-Step Program myself. I spent many years struggling with substances. Cocaine was my drug of choice, though I would use almost anything I could get my hands on if coke wasn't available.
I went into treatment last year and I now have over one year of consecutive clean time.
My life is totally different today and you couldn't pay me to go back to the misery and chaos that is so deeply woven into the drug culture.
I credit the Program of AA/NA to saving my life.
I also found great inspiration directly from Stevie's amazing music and life story.
She is going on tour this year with Fleetwood Mac and I couldn't be happier. Every time I get to see Stevie live (I've seen her about 15 times both solo and with Fleetwood Mac) I feel spiritually fed.
I think that in this day and age where young celebrities are literally destroying themselves before they even have had a chance to experience life; having a true legend like Stevie Nicks to show us that there is hope even in the darkest hour is a true blessing!
Go Stevie!

Thanks for sharing your experience. The first time I saw Feetwood Mac live (2003-ish?) I was high as a kite on coke. I was doing it in the luxury box bathroom. When I see them this year, I hope/expect to have 2 years of clean time.
